I did a search this morning for the phrase “fear not” in the scripture and wrote down God’s response after each “fear not” or “do not fear”.  It’s not enough to say we should not fear, without saying why we shouldn’t.  So often after someone is told not to fear in the Bible, God then reveals his character to them; the why to their fear not.  Here are a few:

  • Fear not…  for God has heard. Gen. 21:17
  • Fear not… for I am with you. Gen. 26:24
  • Fear not… for it is the Lord your God who fights for you. Duet. 3:22
  • Fear not… for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. Duet. 31:6
  • Fear not… for I have redeemed you and called you by name. You are mine. Isaiah 43:1
  • Fear not… you are my servant whom I have chosen. Isaiah 44:2
  • Fear not… for you are more valuable than the sparrows. Matthew 10:31
  • Fear not.. for I bring you the gospel. Luke 2:10
  • Fear not… behold your King is Coming. John 12:15
  • Fear not… perfect love cast out fear. 1 John 4:18
  • Fear not… for I am the first and the last and the living one. I died and behold I am alive forever and I have the keys of death and Hades. Revelation 1:17
